A friend has asked me to get her some information on where she could order a special piece of wood turning blocks as a Christmas present. She would like it to be a piece of highly figured wood that an advanced turner would love to have. I am not a turner so I am of little help to her. If you know of any suppliers that have web sites that I could look up and send her in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help.

Tons of wood with photos/specs of each piece
Unfortunately, $100 min order (unless you pick up in person)
Thanks for your help, I will give it shot. Is there any one or more woods that you would suggest as a prized item?
Hmmmm, tough to say. Only because what I think is highly figured or prized may not be what someone else thinks. It would be helpful to know what type of turning we are talking about - bowls, platters, vases?
Also, try Northwest Timber - http://www.nwtimber.com
No minimum order there. Click on "online store" link at left of homepage and then select " figured blocks". Pics of each block with sizes and prices.
Another suggestion - what about a gift certificate so the recipient could choose his/her own wood?
Best of luck,
Lee
Super Prized !! Would be some Brazilian Rosewood. But good luck finding any. Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

They are going out of business - if you are in Washington State and can drive there - you may be able to swing a heck of a deal.
Their site gives no indication of where there are. Could you please let us know what town/city they're in? Would appreciate it. They were in Tenino about ten miles South of Olympia.
I would still email Kat if I were you. She doesn't want to have to store all that lumber, and would probably work a deal to unload some of it.
Thanks,
