Hi All,
I’m looking for a small hand held router, I have a 3-1/4 Hp monster but it’s hard to use on a small piece. Any recommendations?
Thank’s’Dick

I like the Makita RF1100 but if I had to do over, I would go with the PC 2 1/4hp kit
with rebates and such they can be had for about $220
I've been using the PC 310 for some time. It's sold as a laminate trimmer, but I've used it for many things. It's powerful enough for many round over jobs. I use it with a long laminate trim bit to flush trim face frames. I use it with the tilt base to flush trim face frames on angled cabinets. I've even used it with a dovetail jig, but only for softer woods. It's a handy tool and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a small router. I even use it to trim laminates.

for small work, consider a laminate trimmer which is really a small router
i have a couple of makitas and for fine edge work, they work great and they have a regular 1/4 inch collet
a step above that is the 1 1/2 hp range and the porter cable 690 series is my choice, i have three of them
caulking is not a piece of trim
can't go far wrong with a DeWalt 621... awesome tool...

Stay safe....Have fun
I've got a Makita 3606, nice and small and 30,000 RPM - you can find them on ebay cheap.
I have the somewhat small porter cable 690, but my dad has a Makita 3606, I think it's 7/8hp, which is much smaller, and a great little router.
How small.. Some of them 'Trim' routers are a good bet if ya not hogging' off to much at a time!
I am looking very hard at the Porter Cable 0310 that was mentioned. I already have a Bosch trim router kit with the offset and tilt bases. Nice little router, but I want something that will accept guide bushings.
Hi All,
Thanks for all of the suggestions, I bought a trim router, works great.
