Any thoughts on what is best to use for laminating 1/16″ hard maple together for skateboard construction?
Im thinking it needs to be something that stays a bit flexable, or at least not brittle.
anyone?

Recorcinol is my favorite with epoxy being a close second for veneering. Creep resistance is what you are after. Waterproofing is also important as the "shredder" is apt to get his "stick" wet from time to time. I am interested in skate board making as well. I have seen premade blanks in some catalogs but would like to try to make one myself.
Later dude,
You will need an adhesive that will with stand the vigors of jumping up and down on it as well as the ability to repel moisture from running the thing through water. I would recomend a 2 part epoxy s.a."EpoxyHeads" or "system 10" Not only can you laminate the would together but the epoxy is also a great durable coating that will incase the board and if you wanted to underlay a picture or design you can rest assured that it would be protected. http://www.epoxyheads.com Good Luck and "Keep the dust flying."
I used to make longboard skateboards and had good success with standard TiteBond II. I was laminating three plys (two 1/8 in. thick hardwoods and one 1/8 in. thick luan ply). I clamped them in a bent form in order to get a little kick in the tail. Five years later I still take No. 50 for a spin when ever the sun's out.

Take a look at Industrial Formulators G2 Epoxy .It can be mixed for a flexible bond as used in golf clubs etc. This is done by changing the resin /hardener ratio as per their recomendations
Shock resistance is way up on the list if not #1. A few years ago I bought a ton of short 3/4" pipe clamps for a buck each from a guy that was getting out of making decks. What ever he used was all over them and I spent a few hours with my mini-grinder and a cup brush getting it off the clamp heads. My best guess is that he was using plastic resin glue.

We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

that was one of my thoughts.
thanks
unibond 800 is a urea formaldahide glue popular with skateboard builders.
If you do a search at this forum: http://www.vacupress.com there are several references to skateboards and unibond 800.
I'm using it right now for veneer in a vacuum press and it is exceptional. It is waterproof
doesn't creep over time, long open time for complicated glue-ups...
