Firstly, I’m new to air tools.
Should I be using silicone tape on the threads of my pneumatic tools (cut-off tool, LVLP gun, upholstery stapler, brad nailer, etc..)?
I want to ensure against air leakage at threaded joints (such as where my inline filter attaches) but I’m fearful that a peice of tape could tear loose and get blown into the tool’s innards.
If silicone tape is not the way to go: is there some other way to prevent air leakage? Is some slight air leakage acceptable and/or to be expected?
Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

There shouldn't be any leakage, but getting a tight connection isn't difficult.
Teflon tape works well, and as long as it is wrapped around the male fitting's threaded area only, none of it should get into the air steam. Be sure to wind the tape onto the threads in the proper direction so that the tape doesn't bunch up when you thread the two pieces together.
I'm a bit old fashioned and prefer to use brush on pipe joint compound for threaded joints. Again, only apply the compound to the male threads so that none of the excess gets pushed into the interior of the pipe.

OK, thanks.
