Shopmade band saw fence plans?
I’m new to the Forum, so forgive me for probably repeating an old question, but can anyone refer me to a good plan for a really good shopmade band saw fence? I’ve searched the FW index archives with no joy.
Thanks.

I can't recall an article on building a fence from scratch. It would be fairly complicated and hard to design something that would fit on the many types of machines available and a magazine article has to apply to a fairly large audience. Secondly, the fences that the saws come with are typically adequate for the average woodworker so there isn't much demand for an improved fence.
What type of a saw are you trying to fit a fence to?

It's a new Delta X5 14", and I'll be using it to cut veneers and a lot of thin stuff. I restore antiques.
2Much,
Issue #159 of Fine Woodworking has an article titled "Soup Up Your Bandsaw" that shows how to modify the type of saw you own for resawing, including making an auxillary fence.
Taunton Press probably still has that back issue for sale. If you didn't get a fence with your saw, I have a brand new Delta fence, still in the box, that I'd be glad to sell at a good price to get it out of my shop.
