Does anyone have any experience with the Shapton GlassStones? The reviews I’ve seen are generally very favorable.
My Norton 4000/8000 combo stone broke. 🙁

Buy another one. How did it break?
"Buy another one."
Thank you. That wasn't the question.
"How did it break?"
By itself.

Give me a break!
Indeed I do. I have a 1k and 2k Shapton pro series and a 4k, 6k and 8k Glasstone. My theory is that I'll use the 1 and 2 k the most for flattening, so I wanted more stone to wear away. In all honesty, I am still not 100% sold on the Glastones. They work fine but seem to be a little soft-the black slurry builds quickly, and is hard to remove when I flatten them, so it leads me to believe that they're softer. I am sure that is a crock and I am 100% wrong, but there you are. The Pro series stones are outstanding, and I can recommend them without hesitation.
Most nights are crystal clear, but tonight it's like he's stuck between stations.
Thanks for the review. The GlassStones are supposed to use a slightly improved formulation compared to the Professional stones, but whether that means they're harder or softer, I don't know.
What are you using for flattening? In his videos, Harrelson Stanley uses the new diamond lapping plate, and manages to remove the black stuff with just a couple of strokes. Of course, that diamond lapping plate costs more than even the 32000 stone....

Yeah, that was a little rich for my blood. I'm using a DMT coarse/extra coarse stone. I think the stones work fine; I'm just a little suspicious. If I were to do it over, as I think I said, I would get the Pro series all around.
