My husband has been working on building nursery furniture for our first child. He has built a changing table and crib and is working on an armoire out of various types of mahogany. He has passed the completed pieces to me to do the finishing. I have only rudimentary experiences staining and polyurethaning but am looking to do more. I would like to dye and stain these pieces and use pore filler. I am hesitant do try these techniques without seeing them done first. I’ve read the books from Taunten on finishing techniques. My question for you is, are there any good videos that would walk me through applying these techniques? Or am I left to attempt them on my own?
Thanks! Rachel

Aurelia,
Contact Jeff Jewitt at HomesteadFinishingproducts.com Jeff has made a number of videos over the years. He may have what you need.
Another thought is to look into classes in your area if possible. They can make the learning curve less stressful.
It does take time and practice to be sure. If you can put aside the time, make sample boards. They really are the best time you can spend.
Good luck.
Peter
