on the sealcoat shellac… i have a can that’s over 1 year old. it still seems to dry hard. how long can the can of sealcoat last and still perform well?

I think they say 3 years although I would be little dubious.
You can always lay a brushful or two on a piece of glass to test it. If it dries hard you're good to go. If it stays sticky, dump it.

There should be a date code on the bottom of the can. Zinsser guarantees that the finish is usable for three years from that date.
