I am ordering some 1 1/4″ shaker knobs from Woodcraft for a dresser I am building. I plan to saw off the tenons on each knob and attach the knobs to the drawer fronts with screws. I’m thinking of using 1 1/4″ PowerHead screws (with a washer type head) but I am wondering if you all have any better suggestions?

drill the proper diameter hole for the tenon and forget the screws. I hate screws on knobs,,,,you are forever tightening them.

The tenon would be better.
If you are going to use screws, one of the problems you will have is there is a tendency for the knobs to be twisted or turned, stripping the screw over time.
One way to avoid this is to drill a very small hole 3/8" deep on the knob halfway between the screw hole and the edge. Clip the top off a 1/2" brad and using a pliers, seat the brad with the chisel end pointing out- it should protrude about 1/8". When you mount the knob the screw will tend to bury the brad tip. The knob will not move, and the screw will last longer.

If you don't think too good, then don't think too much...
I've used a lot of tenon type knobs and have repaired quite a few on older furniture. Wood shrinks, the hole in the drawer or door gets larger, the tenon on the knob gets smaller. Tenon knobs fall out frequently. I don't blame you for wanting to use a screw. Cutting off the tenon nice and flush and pre-drilling for the screw takes some care but you plan will work just fine. Otherwise, you may want to wedge or pin the tenon. Another option is to cut the tenon shorter and also use a screw.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Screws into the endgrain of the plug doesn't sound like a good long term solution to me. I'd glue 'em as others have said.

Lyptus ,
I've seen some very coarse threaded screws designed for wood knobs and such , not sure what the thread is called , but the screws are blunt on the ends and work like a self taping screw into a piloted hole .
I will look for the screws to post a picture .

Screws like you're describing came with some very nice 1 5/8" maple knobs that I ordered from Rockler. While the knobs look very well made, they are just a little too big for my shaker style dresser. I haven't been able to find a place that just sells the screws though.
This screw works in wood knobs and pulls .
Where do you get screws like that?- Lyptus
Lyptus ,
I have never looked for them but would start with any supplier that sells wood knobs , or check with a fastener supplier .
good luck dusty
Don't get the knobs from Woodcraft. There's a company in NJ called Nice Knobs. They have a wide selection and they might have what you need and some.
Just another source to consider.
good luck
It's not a bad idea to turn your own knobs.
