Greetings to all. I’m wondering if any chairmakers or weavers can help me with a set of chairs I’m designing. The chair is a windsor design that I want to use a rush seat in. The problem is that a rush chair normally has posts at corners to weave around and I will have a seat frame into which I will pre-weave and then install. Anyone out there run into this. I”ve seen this done in grand rapids chairs but don’t have one to copy.

Hi Joe ,
For a seat frame like you describe to be Rushed you need to build the frame with corners left proud . Hard to describe but imagine a frame with corners blocks that were like 2 1/2" square and rungs if you will that may be only 1 1/2" or so .
I have re rushed these before and they can be easier because you only have the frame to flip and work with instead of the whole chair .These frames screw on from the under side of the apron or frame as a rule .
Wherever you buy your weaving materials from should have a chart and some basic style pictures to look at .
regards dusty, not rushing this afternoon
