I have a Jet benchtop morticer which has a fairly large runout apparantly related to the chuch. One of the eresults from this is a wobble in the drill and a loud noise as it rotates in side of the chisel. Short of replacing the chuck (motor shaft is OK) is there any way to omprove the situation. Thanks. Fitz

Are you using all three holes in the chuck to tighten?

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES...THEY ARE NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING, BUT...THEY STILL BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN YOU PUSH THEM DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS
I used the three holes but it has no effect. A dial indicator indicates a runout in the chuck sleeve but its worst on a chucked drill rod. Thanks
How old is the unit? If it's not too old, go back to the local vendor where you bought your mortiser. They can rattle their Jet reps cage and probably get you a new chuck. Our Jet Rep. is very helpful in situations like this. If you bought it off E-Bay good luck. Another good reason to shop at your local WW Store.
