They are selling this band saw at Home Depot for $99.00. I looked it over and it seems very well made BUT there is no backing bearing for the blade. I don’t know how it can operate properly without one.
Anybody own one of these? How do ya like it?
Thanks,
Don

forget about it, do yourself a favor and get a bigger better saw. one of the problems with ryobi is that there inventory is non-existent. I've talked to woodworkers who have owned ryobi tools and they haven't been able to get replacement parts when their tools break, and I haven't heard anything good about their customer service either. my neighbor has a little delta bandsaw similar to the ryobi, and it struggles cutting through a 2x4. I'd assume the ryobi would have the same power issues. honestly, i think you'd be better off with a scroll saw as the little bandsaws can't handle much in the way of thick wood. if your serious about woodworking you'll quickly outgrow a little saw like that.
I own one, do you want to buy it? One of my first tool purchases, wish I'd have spent 3x as much and gotten a real machine.
I work for HD and what do you want for $99. It"s a real piece of junk. Save your money and buy a better one.
I also saw it at HD. I think it's a little light for a regular boat and a little to large for a canoe. Personally, I would recomend a cement block. The're a whole lot cheaper and if its to heavy you can always knock off a little with a hammer or handy rock. In its favor, it does have a lot of things sticking out to catch on stuff and keep one from drifting around.
Wadda Talkin about... I cut almost 1/2 bd ft of wood with mine (before I bought a DElta 14") ....Make me an offer pleeeesemakinsawdust

The 9" BS is too light for serious work. I have a few Ryobi tools. I have not had a problem getting replacement parts through Dixie Sales. I have the 10" Ryobi drill press which is IMO a very good benchtop. I returned a Delta. I also have a 3x21 belt sander that has been smooth and very reliable. Can't say much about the rest of the line. Like all the tool manufactures they have a few hits and several misses.
BTW, a Jet 12" BS is $325 if you don't need re-saw capacity. It has a 1/2 HP and is made of cast iron. Grizzly has a new 14" out this month for $375 plus truck frt. It has some improvements over their old BS. Good luck..
