Anyone know of any magazine that has done router comparisons? In particular I am looking at usage in a JDS MultiRouter and would like whatever make and model has been identified as having the lowest arbor run out.

Bio - FWW did a review #189, J-F 2007, specifically for routers to use with a router table sans lift mechanisim like Jessem. I don't know the Multi-router's requirements, but...
Measured collet runout:
Bosch 1617EVS - 0.003 in.
Craftsman 1617-12 - 0.005
Freud FT1700VCEK - 0.005
Milwaukee 5625-20 - 0.001
PC 891 - 0.003
RIgid 2930 - 0.001
Triton M0F001KC- 0.0007 <<< least runout Also - the Triton got both flags - bes value and best overall.
Very helpfull spotcheck, thanks.
Router run out, like any data sampling, varies from sample to sample.
In my view, there are few routers with unacceptable run out when new. I would look at other criteria.
Moreover, every router has some runout and some, depending on components, use/misuse, develop the malady faster than others.
Wouldn't it be great if tool
Wouldn't it be great if tool manufacturers could agree on a fair set of benchmarks for tool testing/reviewing? That would keep at least part of the reviews scientific, and allow reviews from different time periods to be related.
