The New Router Handbook by Patrick Spielman is a comprehensive book. Might look a little dated in the "projects" section, but it thoroughly covers routers, bits, safety, jigs, dovetails, specialty routers and more. Click here for Amazon listing.

Thanks, Zeva.

Yes, that does look like a good one. Thanks again.

I'm not familiar with Spielman's book, but I quite like Bill Hylton's Woodworking with the Router book. I did a quick google search, and the first hit is apparently for a free download:

If it really is a free download, you can't beat that. I have never heard of the site and don't know if it requires a membership or if there are any catches. It's a good book though, and of course you can buy it in print form.

I would be very careful browsing that Free eBook site. Even though it's marked "safe" by the Norton Site-Safety software, when you go there, you'll get lots of pop-ups and pop-unders, and links that look pertinent but direct you to irrelevant advertising.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I was wary too. That's why I warned the OP. Thanks for the concern.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodworks.com and http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com)

Flair,
I do appreciate the suggestion. Free is my favorite price. I went to the site and clicked a button or two. It didn't seem like they were going to let me get away without a virus or two, so I skee-daddled.

Bill Hylton's "Woodworking With the Router", and "Router Magic", are both excellent books.
"Woodworking With the Router", is the most complete book on basic work with the router I have seen. I still use mine as a reference, after a lot of years of working with the router.
I also have the book Forestgirl recommended The New Router Handbook by Patrick Spielman, I have found it to be very useful and informative, I've had it for a few years now and still find myself looking up different technics in the book just to refresh the memory. I bought my copy at Lee Valley.
