Hello all,
I just made my first raised panel door and it turned out pretty good. Anyway, I was wondering if the edges could be rounded over on the outside rail/stile edges. Not sure what it would look like where the rails and stiles meet. Thanks

You certainly can although there are a couple of "land mines" that can wreck your day.
First, if your raised panel is "proud" of the frame, getting a nice roundover can be a bit difficult since the roundover bit won't be dead-on perpendicular to the frame.
If you're using euro hinges, you want to be careful with the depth of the hinge cup holes. There isn't much "meat" left when the holes are drilled and it's fairly easy to open up a hole from the front if you overdo the edge profile.
I have a "finger pull" cutter that gives me a nice edge detail and relieves the door/drawer front so pulls aren't needed (see the picture). No problem with this door since it didn't use euro hinges, but on another job, I had to remake a frame after I cut into the hinge cup holes because I had drilled the cup holes too deep.
Are you talking about the outside edges of the door frame ?
Or the inside edges of the frame ?
For the outside there is no reason you can't use most any detail , Dave makes a good point about the cup hole for Euro hinges being close to the edge and you need to make sure your detail is compatible if you use that hinge .

How wide are your stiles and rails? If they're not too narrow, try a small (1/8"?) roundover bit in a trim router...just enough to "break" the sharp edges. If the hinge cups allow, go to a larger bit if you like.
I round door edges this way, rather than use the router table; it ensures that the bit contacts every inch of the door's perimeter.

thanks for the tips. I would have never thought about the cup hinge problem. This particular door is not using cup hinges but I may get crazy and do some cabinet doors which would use them.
Thanks for the picture of the cabinet door. Looks nice. I have some scrap rail and stiles that I will practice on before the real deal!
"I would have never thought about the cup hinge problem"I didn't think about it either and had to do a "do-over". Sometimes, I wish woodworking gave Mulligans. - lol
Hi Dave ,
I sure like the idea of a woodworking Mulligan , I think that along with my invention of dehydrated beer most problems would not appear important .

thats the most common practice nowadays, a roundover with a standard 1/16 fillet (eyeball ur test piece, adjust accordly), good luck
