I just discovered that those flourescent bulbs with the screw in base don’t burn out when bumped. I have three office desk type pivoting lamps for my work benches. The bulb in the one over the grinder was always burning out due to the vibration. The standard rough duty bulb would last maybe 2 weeks. The flourescent bulb has been in there now for over two months. Plus, they say a 60 watt light output bulb only consumes 10 watts.

I started buying the heavy-duty incandescent bulbs several years ago after crawling the entire length of a crawlspace .......then breaking the el cheapo bulb in my worklight. That occured shortly after I learned to tie a loose square knot to keep my worklight and extension cord plugs together while crawling. - lol
Mike, I had the same problem with the grinder. Put in $7.00 rough service bulb and it lasts a week or two. I removed it from the grinder and mounted it on the wall, use regular bulbs now.

I love the florescent bulbs as well. For years I replaced all the bulbs in my house ever 3-4 months. It finally dawned on me that the trains vibrated my house enough to destroy the filaments...
I haven't replaced one of the florecents in 8 months.
