I’ve been using Rockler’s Gel Poly (item 29594) for several years and been very happy with it. When I odered another quart of the product recently, I received a different gel polyurethane. I was told that the original product is no longer available, but that the new product “is just as good” as the original. When I opened the can, it was immediately obvious from the fumes that this is not at all the same product. Ideally it should be used only outside, but in Minnesota in the winter that’s not really an option. I’ve found that I can work with this new product for perhaps ten minutes before I have to quite and open a window and turn on a fan to pull some of the fumes out of the shop and some fresh air in. I never had this issue with the original, and find it a bit misleading that the new product is being sold under the same catalog number. Can anybody recommend another gel polyurethane that they like?

I can't say that I have a gel
I can't say that I have a gel poly source. I'm not very fond of the gel varnishes. A wipe on varnish isn't much harder to use, but I've been happier with the results.
Was this the product that was marketed under Michael Dresdner's name?
