I’m a weekend hobbyist starting to get more serious about woodworking and am buying a jointer. Woodcraft has the Rikon 6 inch jointer marked down, looks like a pretty good value. Does anyone have experience with Rikon jointers who could advise? If not Rikon, what mid-level 6 inch jointer would you recommend?

I have a Ridged 6" jointer from HD it was a floor sample so I got it for a very good price. It has worked well and their customer service has been good (was missing a part when I bought it) Shop around and look for used as well if you can get an old Delta or Powermatic in good shape you will do ok as well.
Good luck
Troy
Thanks, Troy. The Ridgid is another I've been considering based on the FWW test of 6" jointers.
P.S. As for a used machine, I'm checking out craigslist...but the good deals seem to get snatched up awfully fast!
Hi Bob, I don't have the Rikon jointer. But I do have the Rikon 18" bandsaw and the new mini lathe. Both have seen lots of use, and are good quality tools at great prices. I recently broke a guide on the bandsaw and had a good customer service experience. I would definately recommend Rikon. Chris
Thanks, Chris. Good to get feedback from an owner, as they are a new company.

Hi,
Check out Grizzly. Their jointers are some of the best tools they make. What costumer service I've needed has been good. I've been very impressed with my 8" model.

Bob,
I know of a guy in Dallas that is upgrading his 6" Rikon to an 8". He is selling his 6" at a good price. If you are anywhere near there and interested, let me know.
Danny
Thanks for the thought, Danny, but I'm in Chicago. :(
Thanks, Paul. Grizzly has been at the top of my list. I'm not finding many Rikon owners out there; must be pretty new on the market. Makes me pause...
