Happy Holidays everyone. I need your help. What I need to know is what type, size and TPI of bandsaw blade I should purchase for my 14 inch Grizzly G0457 bandsaw to resaw veneer? Wood types I will use are White Oak, Maple, Cherry and Alder. Thank you for recommendations. Brew

Brew,
Try a 1/2" or 5/8" 3TPI first with nice steady feed. If you find the blades don't last, look into a bi metal 4-6 TPI. Your feed will be even slower but the blade will last a long time. Also the dust will be much finer - wear a respirator.

I run the Highland Hardware 1/2" Wood Slicer. Leaves a very nice surface that doesn't need a lot of work, which is a big plus if you're going to use it for veneer.
Brew,
Just about any good quality blade will do the job as long as it is SHARP and UNDAMAGED in any way (meaning NEW). Even one tooth out of set will make resawing veneer from stock very difficult to do well. (A blade can get damaged during installation!).
I recommend a 1/2" 3 TPI blade, skip tooth pattern. The lower the TPI the better and smoother the cut. More teeth in the wood prevents the blade from discharging the wood dust, causes heating and flexing. I buy Starrett blades from BC Saw in Vancouver (bcsaw.com) because they are excellent and are very low priced (discounts in quantities of 10). I also like Timberwolf, but the Starretts from BC Saw are 1/2 the price.
Whenever someone posts a question like this, I can't resist directing them to Michael Fortune's article in FWW. It's the best advice for setting up a BS for resawing that exists.

For resawing veneer, I've seen recommendations for both the WoodSlicer and thin-kerf spring steel blades with carbide teeth, the latter being substantially more expensive, but staying sharp longer.

I've been using the Woodslicer from Highland Hardware for a while now, 1/2" size. They aren't expensive, and cut very well. They don't last a long time, though.
