Also, I just realized that one is asked to use magnetic holders to remove the blades. I don’t have these. Can these be purchased?
Thanks again!

If the holders are only for removing the blades, not for holding the new blades in the proper position for installation, you can use any magnet or probably a bent paper clip to get the blades out of the slots. The magnets just make it a little less likely that you might cut yourself on the blades but they certainly aren't necessary if you are reasonably careful.
If you need the magnetic holders for reinstalling the blades properly they can undoubtedly be purchased as a spare part from Makita.

I have the portable 2012 and after looking up your model is about the same only with the jointer. I have the disposable blades using the magnetic holders. They work well and it takes about 15 minutes to replace my planer blades. I liked the use both side and throw them away. Mine cost about 30 bucks a set and they last a long time. Cheaper than sharpening. Call the service dept. They can get you any parts I'm sure. I wanted the dust collection chute and just knew it would not be avail since mine was so old, but they had it no problem. Good luck.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
