Removing Surface Scratches on Cherry Table with Burnished Oil Finish
Good Evening
We have a cherry dining room table that has a burnished oil finish. As you will note from the attached photo, the tabletop has some surface scratches that are only visible in strong sunlight.
I am looking for a conservative approach to removing the scratches and reapplying another oil finish.
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to this question.

I think the biggest open question is your surface finish. If it is just plain wood you only need to scrape followed by some light sanding. If there is some finish you might be lucky in that you are able to just patch that area without it looking too different, but in worst case you might need to take off and add a new finish over the whole table.

It’s cosmetic, don’t do anything radical.
Try some scratch remover or RestorAFinish first.
Then live with it.
