Hi,
I have a table from the ’30’s that I am refinishing. The top is in rough shape. I have removed the finish and am working on removing a black stain that I think was caused from a candle. I have tried heat to see what would happen and it appears to have removed some remaining residue. I’d like not to have to sand the top. I have not used oxalic acid before and was wondering how effective it is on this type of stain. What recommendations do others have? Thank you for your help.

Stain
Oxalic acid is safe to use and can remove some types of black stains (follow the directions on the package) don't breath in any dust while lightly sanding after bleaching spot - you may have to treat the entire top so bleaching is uniform - are you sure it's not a burn ?

Thank you. Definitely not a burn.About 99.99% sure it is from a candle.
