My niece purchased a wall unit from a show room a couple of years ago,
with a TV cabinet in the center, that has 2 doors that close and open horizontally (one door slides up and one door slides down)operated by remote control.Well the door were hardly ever used, since there was never any TV in there to watch.Anyway the doors stopped working. She called in a tech. from the show room who told her the motor burned out and a new one will cost a $1,000.00.The whole wall unit cost her $3,700.00.
I have not had any luck on the internet locating this mechanism, probably because I don’t know what its called or how to refer to it.And none of my hardware suppliers have any such thing.Lifts and swivels are plentiful, but I can,t seem to find this item. Can someone help me out?
Thank You
John

The place to start an internet search is with a brand name off of the whole unit or, even better, a name off of the motor or the mechanical mechanism.
No small motor is worth a $1000.00, it is being given a huge mark up as a repair part. Take the motor out and see if you can go directly to the motor's manufacturer, if the motor has a makers name on it. Lacking that, you can probably find a similar motor in something like a Grainger catalog.
Another possibility is to take the motor to a motor repair shop, they can check it out, identify the problem, (it may not, in fact, be burned out), and rebuild it if needed for way less than a grand
