I acquired an old Delta Milwaukee lathe for Christmas. It was my grandfather’s old lathe. It has some light surface rust but should come off pretty easy. It has a Delta Milwaukee tag and a serial # 45-8xxx. (can’t remember the whole thing) I am thinking it predates the 1946 and up model of Delta Rockwell lathes, I think those have a model # of 1460, but it looks exactly the same. I have all the parts except the spindle assembly for the headstock.
Anyone know what year this is from?
Does anyone know where I might acquire those parts?
Any tips of what I need to be careful of while cleaning the rust?

Delta history
A history of Delta can be found here:
http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgIndex/detail.aspx?id=1141
That includes a link to another page describing Delta serial numbers:
http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/DeltaSerialNumbers.ashx
That list puts your machine's manufacturing date in 1946.
This site might be helpful in terms of parts:

(Thanks to member Wericha for the link in the other rehab thread.)
