Hey all.
I’ve got a small landing I’ve made out of some
redwood I had left over from an outdoor project.
It’s essentially just an intermediary step between
the kitchen and the outside deck, which is a little
higher than a natural step.
Any suggestions on a nice, easy finish that will
help bring out the color and grain of the redwood?
Thanks.

Sure-
Find Varathane by Flecto. The Diamond Wood Finish oil based
their part # 93-41 in a can is great for redwood. Has max UV protection, flows to flat
surface holds off water spots and keeps the gray away.

Not sure if your project is inside or out but if it is outside you might try "Penofin" penetraiting oil stain they sell it at HD. It will keep the redwood from turning grey. I have used it on my fences. Pretty noxious stuff. It has some oil that will form a film if you don't wipe it down after you apply it. It is not a furniture grade product but try it on a sample and see if you like it. Good luck
