Hi all,
I just got my “new” used radial arm saw up and running after building a bench for it and replacing the motor bearings. It is 10″ a DeWalt/BD and seems to be a pretty good tool so far.
I would like to buy an affordable dado set for this saw but really don’t know what to get. Do I want a 10″ set or will an 8″ set be a better choice for this 2hp saw? I see Freud sets for reasonable money on eBay and they feature a negative-rake grind which should be better for a radial saw I think.
What is the advice from those of you who have had experience in this?
Thanks,
Randy

Rudy: You can not use a 10 IN. dado on your saw, 10IN. dados have a 1" arbor . so in any case you have to an 8 in. dado. I got the link to freuds dado web site below, check it out what dado would be best for you. Good luck

I have the Freud 6" Safety Dado for my table saw and it's really well-made, gives excellent results. IMO, your best buy on a quality dado. If your budget permits, you might want to check out their new dial-type stacked dado. Don't know if it's appropriate for an RAS though.
PS: You might think about just a 6" dado. Most people do fine with 6"
