so here is the situation, I just got all new used cabinets for my shop that are taller than the tables I had the tools on before. so now I have the chopsaw and routertable 4+ inches higher than the table saw top, so I can’t use my TS easily now. Can I build a box to put the TS ontop of (is it safe)?

Sure you can. Do you have a contractor-type saw? I suggest you remove the metal stand and build a wooden base with a big wooden box below the saw to collect dust. Also, close off the back as best as you can.

That's also a great Idea. Its a portable saw on a contractor like base.

If you haven't alread thought about it, consider building a router table into the table saw's extension table.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com

Depending on your height, raising the saw may be uncomfortable to work.
I wouldn't bother raising the saw. Why would the table saw, router table and mitersaw have to be the same height? If your shop is limited in space and stock has to pass over these tools , then I can see your concern.Does your base cabinets have a toe kick? You may be able to lower the base cabinets by cutting the toe kick off.

Yeah. I was concerned about that, I might just kick off the toe plate

I am tall so almost all of my tools are on skids.
