I am rebuilding the cabinet doors in my motor home and the stiles & rail bits are a cove cut. I have looked for a bit that matches this but all I can find is traditional , ogee , and ones with a bead. The raised panel is a cove cut and the inside cut of the rail & stile is also a cove cut. I cannot seem to find a matched bit set that will match what I have. Can any body help?
Thank You,
David

david,
yours is a common enough problem. i don't know of an easy answer. scouring on line catalogs is most likely called for here. one can have knives custom ground but this may be expensive and justified only if the knives can pay for themselves. were i in your situation, i would do an extensive search on line. eventually you will come across what's needed.

Hey hey,
Thanks for replying. Scouring is what I have been doing. I just need to know what they call that bit or if it even has a name . Heck I went to a Rocklers and the guy there told me the same thing," gona' have to search for that ". There has to be one out there somewhere because most motorhomes have the same style cabinet doors, not all but most. Thanks again for writing back.
See Ya,
David
I am unaware of router bits for cove profile R&S but there are shaper cutters available for it:http://www.freudtools.com/p-407-rs2000.aspx

It's not likely that the manufacturer used router bits, more likely it's a shaper cutter. You can buy cove panel raiser bits. If you can't find or don't want to spend money on a cove shaped rail and cope set, you can fake it a couple of ways.
One is to run a cove on the edge of your rails and stiles, cut the groove and make your M&T. The cove shape has to be cut back on the stile where the rail meets and at that meeting you miter the cove on both the rail and stile. Another is to make a square edged frame and add a cove, mitered around the opening, you could cope the miters or not. Check some of the pics in the beaded door thread. One more is to make a square edged frame, then use a router to cut the cove. You can either leave the corners round or finish it to the corners with carving tools.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
