Does anyone know how to connect a shop vac to a belt sander? Vac = Fein, sander= PC. I know, I should be installing a DC system, but I’m between shops just now, and it occurs to my that this might be a way to reduce the dust somewhat. Thanks for any tips.

If your sander has a dust bag, the usual solution is to remove the bag and plug the vacuum's hose where the dust bag used to be. For quick-and-dirty, use duct tape to hold them together. For a neater job, you can buy rubber adapters from the vacuum-cleaner companies which convert from one size of tube to another. If you have an old belt sander which doesn't have a dust bag, you're out of luck.
Thanks, Jamie -- that is exactly what I've done. I've taped the hose to the dust port and ordered (from Amazon) an adapter for the Fein. Even the taped jury-rigged steup works amazingly well, and I can't believe it took me this long to figure out this solution to the dust problem. Cough cough, hack hack.
