Questions about making interior doors

Hi all,

Thinking about making an interior door. Nothing fancy at all…. just a flat panel mission style. So here’s my question….

How much space to I need to leave for the flat panels in the rails and styles (for expansion)?

The biggest of the panels is approximately 16 x 20 or so…

with no other reference than my experience, leave 1/8" on either side of the panel, in other words the panel 1/4" less than rabbet to rabbet measurement - assuming the wood is at equilibrium with the enviroment where it will end up -
