Has anyone used a “quartz radiant heater” like the one available at Lee Valley? Here’s the link for it…

Questions: Does it run on regular 120volt current? Also, are there “combustability” issues with it. Will it ignite sawdust, vapors, etc.? Is the heating element itself hot? How well does it work?

I use the heater from Lee Valley.
Uses 120v., suspended from ceiling to radiate out over the most often used work area of a small shop,i.e. dbl car garage.
Heater is effective to remove morning chill. I Do Not use it to heat the entire area. Cut the chill, hold my blue hands up to get warm and thats enough for me. Rarely use it for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Heater effective within these parameters.

I concur. It is a nice addition, and does a good job taking the curse off.
Hi Ed - I guess 35 years on woodworking has taught me one thing. Use a tool for what it can do. If it won't work, or you're overreaching, get the proper tool.
Good luck finding the grain

I use mine for a few hours each day. I've found the high setting to be a little intense, in fact it seems as if it will set my head on fire. I turn if off when making a lot of dust. I never use anything that creates enough vapors to be a combustion problem. If mine burned out, I'd replace it, so I guess that is the best testimonial.

I'd buy another one. Not sure about the model with the halogen bulb though. I just have an aversion to halogen bulbs.
A good small area heater, I wouldn't try to heat a whole shop with one though- no air movement.
