Pozi drill driver bits are available in range of prices
My question, are the more expensive bits worth the price eg Wiha’s HOT Gold Torsion Bits and which bits are the best value for money in terms of price and use

The answer is - more or less - yes. The cheaper bits get chewed up very quickly. I've had cheap bits fail after 3 or 4 screws, say 50mm x 4mm in pine with a pilot screw.
Double the price would be cheap in the short run. I can't help you with American brends but I currently have some Stanley bits and some which came with a Casals cordless driver, Both lots are performing well.
I have found that the torsion bits seem to hold up a lot better when using an impact gun and very hard wood .Probably being more fussy over pilot drilling would be just as good but I am lazy and work fast.Hence have snapped bits. I also like the diamond dust coated ones.
I agree going with the more expensive, however regardless of cost if you don't have sufficient force downwards and they cam out on you, that is the beginning of the end, may as well throw the damn thing out.
Ditto for phillips head.
I am seriously considering swapping over completely to the Robertson square drive, seems that they have come down significently in cost and one set of drives should last for a long time
