Just passing along this information to the folks that don’t get Lowe’s email. They are having a two day (Sat. & Sun.) 20% off sale on power tools. Check lowes.com for the list of tools on sale. I pass this along strickly for imformational purposes as I have have no stake in Lowe’s personally.
Good Day

LRSmith, I went onto Lowe's web site but couldn't find any info on a tool sale. They did list $20.00 off on a few items. Does your e-mail indicate that this sale is national? Maybe it's just for persons who subscribe to their e-mail. If you could give us a link, that may be helpful. Thanks, Ken
I suspect that the Lowe's sale may be in response to the Home Depot sale. I was in Home Depot yesterday (Friday), and they were offering 20% off all power tools on Fri Sat Sun, and I had heard on the web that it was a national in-store program.
Ken,
Maybe this will help. When I key in "lowes.com" it takes me to :http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=home which shows the 20% 0ff Sale and mentions the fact that free shipping is also available to the continental US. I just got back from purchasing a Delta 16" Scroll Saw for $79.20 ( was $99.00). I got my receipt and was about to leave when the cashier says "wait here's your rebate form." The form says I quailify for either a $20 or $30 gift card. Wonders never cease.

I bought a Delta GR450 variable speed grinder at Lowe's last week. $30 rebate so it is $99. I was thinking what you just stated this afternoon. This week I would have purchased it for $103 and $30 back for bottom line of $73. I had pushed that thought to the back of my mind till I saw your post.
A day late and a dollar short! Story of my life. Someday.....

Sarge,
A guy on another boar says he bought a tool at Lowes last week, went back today and they honored the 20% off since it was within a reasonable time frame. Just for your info...

Thank you kind sir! It's on the way to Borders Book Store where I was just headed to pick up a copy of Furniture & Cabinet-Making from GB. Featuring an article by our own Sgain Dubh (aka Slainte, Richard Jones) on how to chose the approproiate drawer design. (Thought I would plug his article while the opportunity exist) ha.. ha...

Not directly applicable to Lowes or Home Depot, but check out Amazon.com for tool buying as well. They seem to have some pretty good prices and sometimes free shipping on selected items.

Thanks... I use Amazon most for most larger purchases as I agree. In this case both had it for $129. Free shipping would have got it a little cheaper at Amazon, but I was able to put it to use immediately for the extra $7.43 sales tax. As it turned out with the extra 20% off I ended up getting it for $73.80 with the sales tax. I did good. ha.. ha...

Thanks again... For $129 this is a good 8 x 1 variable speed grinder. With the $30 rebate this is a very good VS grinder. With the 20% and a final price of $73.80, this is an excellent grinder. Looks like someday arrived. ha.. ha...

Sarge,
Glad to hear you got the 20% on that purchase. This weekend really messed up the old budget, with the HD/Lowes sales and all. Coldn't resist the PC biscuit joiner at $197-20%-$30 Delta rebate. I would have felt guilty passing it up!
I was thinking of making a bandsaw purchase in the spring--probably a Griz 5055, but the more I looked at the Delta 278 model a Lowes, the better it looked. Since it shared all the wheels/trunions/ etc of the 1 hp 206 I wasn't getting an inferior machine--just one that was less powerfull. A replacement motor with higher HP might be an option later down the road , if the need arises. So, the saw ended up costing $319 +tax-$50 Lowes gift card . a no-brainer in my case.

Sounds like you did yourself proud. I agree that any BS for $319 would be hard to refuse. I don't use a biscuit jointer that often, mainly face frames. But I am glad I have one when the need arises. Kind of like a set of whole-diggers. They just sit there collecting dust till the mailbox or a fence-post falls down. Then they jump off the shelf and "get the job done". ha.. ha..

I also bought the 8 inch grinder, I had been looking around and had decided to get this one and on top of that I saved $56. I was also looking for a new battery for my DeWalt 9.6 volt drill, they had a 12v for ~$60 but no 9.6, so I bought a new Makita 12v with two batteries for $129 -$26 discount and $20 dollar store credit rebate. So instead of $60 for a battery I got a new 12v drill with 2 batteries for $83, couldn't pass it up.
Have a good holiday season

This would be better answered by Forest Girl or one of the computer whizzes. I just went to the Lowes and told them it was on the web as I heard here. I got it, so something must be cooking out on the web somewhere. I think it was last Fri-Sat-Sun though if I remember correctly?
Merry Xmas and hope you find it...

Ray,
The sale was only good for Friday & Saturday the 20th & 21st. The sale was advertised on the Radio. I do not remember any notice of the sale on the web site, but the prices listed were 20% less.
Chris
Thanks Chris,
