I like the fixed base casting and motor. Reasonable depth adjustment, more motor travel than any router, powerful, good electronics, a good tool. I prefer the 690LRVS but the 890 has a lot more features.
Plunger, not for this teck.
Routers
thanks routerman. nice to know the pc is still getting good reviews.
I have several Pc routers a large fixed base that is dedicated to a router table and the 890pk that is use for both hand held and in a portable router table. The 890 is a fine upgrade of the 690 I have no complaints about either base. For the money you can't go wrong.

thanks jerry. i have several other pc tools and have no problems at all. i found it hard to believe that they would have dropped the ball on the 895 routers.
In the Feb. 2007 issue of FWW, the article on routers for router tables praised the new 890 series partly because of the ease of bit change from above a router table. Article said that the router comes with 2 collet wrenches- one regular and one cranked. Just bought an 895 kit, and found only one wrench- no cranked wrench! Now I'm stuck- how to change bits from above the table? Local Woodcraft store says they know nothing about the cranked wrench, but it is there in a photo in FWW.
Riverboy,
I just picked up a 892 PC router at a Western Tool Supply show in Manchester, NH. When I questioned what I needed to run it in a router table they directed me to PC kit 75301. It has the height adjustment and a wrench-perhaps this is the type wrench you need?
I am putting the router into a Rousseau Roter table.
I think he sells these for PC routers too
