I know there have been posts in the past here on Knots about finding someone with a portable sawmill but the search function does not seem to be working today. At any rate, my Uncle recently took down a large black walnut tree on his farm and offered it up to me. The main trunk is 24+ inches in diameter and about 15 feet long. It then splits into two good sized branches of almost 20 inches in diameter for another 10-15 feet.
I know one tree is a pretty small job but I was hoping to find someone who could saw it up into boards for a not too outrageous price as I would like to try drying it myself. The farm is located just outside Harvard, IL. Does anyone have a recommendation of either a sawer who would cut it up for me or a place to start looking?
Thanks much.
Chris

Contact Woodmiser or any maker of portable sawmills. They will have lists of sawyers close to you.

Thanks much. I could not remember the names of the portable sawmills. I will contact Woodmizer.
