I recently took a week long hand tool class with Jim Tolpin at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking in Port Townsend, WA and wanted to let you all know that Jim Tolpin is a terrific instructor. The school has a great workshop and I would recommend the school to anyone wanting to better their woodworking skills. I traveled all the way from Northern California to take the class and will go back in the near future. Check it out at http://www.ptwoodschool.com.

Cool! Good to see.
I'm planning to be teaching a couple of classes out there in the spring. I'm looking forward to going out.
He did a couple of courses last summer at the Wooden Boat School. He was there with his wife and son. They are really great people, I was glad I was able to share a couple of meals with them. While I didn't take the course the people who did really enjoyed the course. I think they wanted him to come back in 2010 to teach again. They should be posting their schedule for next year in a few days. http://www.thewoodenboatschool.com/ Who knows I might even be in the course with you.

Tom, I took my first turning class at PTSW, it is really great to have such a resource! Their 2010 class schedule is out. One caveat -- don't wait until the last minute to book a hotel room. When there's a special event happening, such as the film festival, it can be hard to get a room. I almost ended up sleeping in my car, LOL. (Not really, could have come home for the night)
