OK … only a coupla weeks left before the big event. Where to meet, – when, – etc. I’m planning on attending at least two of the days, probably Friday & Saturday but am willing to change the sched. if it means making the Knothead convention more convenient for others.

Ahhhh, you beat me to it -- was just about to start a new thread on this. I've been invited by another forum to meet at the Pyramid brewery Saturday 12:30pm, so was wondering when the Knothead gathering was going to take place.
I, too, am planning to go both Friday and Saturday -- Friday to actually enjoy the (hopefully less crowded) show, and Saturday to do whatever.
Who'all is available on Friday? Who'all only on Saturday? Which eating/drinking establishments are the best bets??
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Pyramid's *really* handy (hint-hint-nudge-nudge). Don't know what they have for eats but that's a secondary thing, right! (grin)
Date & time still up in the air. .... I'd prefer something like 11:30 to beat the otherwise overwhelming lunch bunch. What's the other forum thing, Jamie. Is it a compatible type thing we could combine the two?

Dennis, I really like the idea of 11:30, like you say, beat the rush. I've heard the food there is pretty good, which makes up for me not being much of a beer gourmet. I'm absolutely brand new to the other group, so would rather not make any overtures. Can I bring a person or two from Bainbridge??
Hellllooo, other NWers, what's your take? Bart, where are you? Bob from Poulsbo, are you lurking?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie -
I don't own the gathering, I don't own this or any other thread ... you can bring whoever you want! (grin).
I'll be at Pyramid at 11:30 Friday. Look for the guy with the white beard and Aussie knock-off leather hat. If you (or anyone else) is there first let's let the host/hostess know we're part of the Knotheads. That way no body will have to look for anybody.

Doc -
I have it on the highest authority that Jamie's the local chairperson for the WCTU! Hmmmmm
Jamie - "Not much of a beer gourmet"??? I suppose you're taste runs to single malt whiskey, then?
Dennis in Bellevue WA

Oooooh, whiskey! Wellllll, I had a passing acquaintance with Wild Turkey in the (long, long) past, but that's a very dim memory now, thankfully. I'm sure I'll find something at the Pyramid that'll catch my fancy! After all, I'm not captaining the ferry, just riding on it, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie: Whiskey..oh my..soo you do have a little nip every soo often <G>..
Maybe I should introduce you to my good friend Jack Daniels.. now theres a nice sipping whiskey..LOL...
ToolDoc
Hi Doc. I think I'll pass on meeting your friend Jack, thanks anyway. Too macho for me! My tastes have mellowed since my raucous (sp?) college years. I do still play pool occasionally though!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
hehehehehe .... It's more than a few steps from the exhibition hall to the ferry!!

Dennis: oh oh, shes going to be nipping on the Hootch, better keep both eyes on her..<G>.. hmm hope you guys drink after the show, cause whirling blades and booze dont mix..ouch..
ToolDoc
One thing I've never done is work with tools, *any* kind of tools, and drink. Anything but coffee that is.
I see Jamie didn't bite on the reference to WCTU! (grin)
Anything in particular you want me to check out for you at the show, Doc?
Jamie - I know you're peeking .... Rec'd the flier from Woodcraft today - They're not going to have a large presence at this show other than a Dewalt display. I called 'em 'coz on the front of the flyer they're pushing a "free" woodworking show but it's an in-store affair that takes place the weekend before. I thought for sure it was a free pass offer for the main one. Dang .....
I'll check out the Rockler site to see if they're offering show passes or discount tickets.

Dennis: Yes if the Delta gals are there please tell em HI from me..<G>..
Check out the Delta P20 20 inch Scroll Saw model 40-680, it looks like a sweet saw,its going to be my Dream saw some day.. also take a peek at the Delta Deluxe 6 inch jointer model JT360, its there 3/4 hp jointer on a open stand, I took a peek at them the other day at my local Lowes, nice price on them there $399.00.not sure about those, but the Delta P20 sure is a winner..
Thanks for offering to look them over..Hey take FG with you, and then she can give me some comments on them too, I know there not Jets but hey, she can check out the Grey stuff too....
ToolDoc
Doc -
Just curious but .... what kind of projects are you involved in with the scroll saw?
Dennis in Bellevue WA
[email protected]
Dennis: Im working on x-mas ornaments, from plans in creative woodworks & crafts magazine, also just finshed a Holloween centerpiece for the wife from Scrollsaw workshop magazine.. Both Great magazines if you do any Scrolling..
I have enough X-mas ornaments cut out to mail to family & friends with the X-mas cards this year.. thinking of making next years out of copper, something diffrent..have been scrolling since I was in High school started out with one of the first Dremel scroll saws that came on the market..then moved up to a old Sears Dunlap solid cast iron model--still have that by the way & it still cuts pretty damn good..
ToolDoc
Christmas ornaments! Great!!
Actually, that's why I've gotten really interested in WW as well, - not Christmas ornaments so much as gifts, etc. I saw some illustrations of some stunningly beautiful turned ornaments in one of the turning books I've read thus far. Nothing I've done so far could be called 'stunning', but there's always that goal.
The first tool I showed my daughter how to use was an old Dremel scroll saw (that I still have, too!) She had to discribe the geography of an island for a grade school project. I helped her build a little topo model using the contour lines from the map. I think that's why she's so handy herself now - knowing she can do things like that.
Thanks for the chat ...

ToolDoc anything can be your dream tool anytime. I dream of a PM66 all the time. But realistically I know that someday I'll purchase a G1023SL it's quality & price are more in line with my hobby shop. I hope you do get to realize your dream & have lot of years of enjoyment. This is not a slam on your dreams.
So Bart, what's the scoop? You joining us or knot??forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Is it on the 19th or thr 26th & I am not sure where it is. Is it ok for The LOML to come? Not sure yet but may try. Not into tool shows would rather spend the money spent on entry fees & parking on tools or better yet wood. I'm short on wood. You know you can have all kinds of tools but without wood they are just boat anchors.
Bart -
It's the 25th, 26th & 27th at the exhibition hall next to the Seahawks stadium. Look forward to meeting you. Looks like there's a gathering Pyramid brewery at 11:30 on the 25th and perhaps on the 26th as well.

Bart: Your right, that Delta will be in my shop next year sometime and my dream will come true.. The jointer Im not too sure of yet, could be a Jet,Delta or a Grizzly.. Hey Thanx for posting to me.. Take Care..

WCTU? -- I'm afraid to ask!
Yeah, I saw that Woodcraft flyer -- clever of them, eh? Watch for a postcard that has $2 off the $9 weekend pass. Not sure who mailed it out, as it's not here it's at the store. Actually, I may receive 2 of those since I get two of just about every WWing junk mail (one of my magazine subscriptions is in my sig-o's name, that's another story of taking advantage of Wood magazine's 3-years-for-one first-time subscriber offerings.)
If I have an extra, and you don't get one, I can mail it to you. Check the show web site also. Two years ago, you could print out a coupon from the web site.
Now, if you guys want me to be reaaallllly H_A_P_P_Y at our little gathering, you'll find me a yummy frozen strawberry daquiri!! That is my favorite. Rum collins will do in a pinch. Ice cream with Kahlua for desert please.
PS: No rum and Coke. Bad experience on an airplane about, oh, 25 years ago. NotLOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
WCTU = Women's Christian Temperance Union. Really. Probably a few of us old farts around that at least remember what it's in reference to.
Why not bring any spare cupons you (or I or anyone) has in case someone doesn't have one.
Sounds like we'll have to me at FX Mcrorey's(sp) where they have a bar tender that can pronounce those things you like to drink!!

Dennis, that's OK, I'll enjoy the Pyramid, I'm sure! Thanks to Michael for stepping in and inviting us to merge gatherings -- this is lookin' like lots o' fun.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie; Wish I was able to go to that Knot Head Meeting, you guys are meeting at the Brewmeister, quaffing nice cold ones, gulping nice tasty food, getting to meet each other in person..man if I was there I would get the Delta gals to join us<G>, then again what would we need them there for when we would have such a charmer as you with us....
ToolDoc
Doc -
I'd say we'll observe a moment of silence in honor of our fellow Knotheads on line but with the likes of Jamie and me there, I doubt if there will be much room for silence (g).
One thing I think we should do, though, Jamie, is take a picture of the gathering so we can post it here to show everyone that we're real people after all. (hehe)

Pictures...oooohhhh I hate pictures! Here's my favorite, most photogenic -- perhaps we could just photo-edit it into the group. LOL! forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie: You look soo Cute on that horse.. You better let Dennis and the Gang get you in the group photo.. and dont wear those boots & riding outfit, We want to see you in regular clothes.. Bet you thought I was going to tell you to wear a mini skirt & low cut blouse..<G> hehehehe....LOL...
ToolDoc
Well, Doc, my mini-skirt days are loooonnnnngggg gone (it's embarrasing to think some of the clothes I wore in my college days! Holy smokes!) The breeches don't fit too well any more either. That picture was taken in the late 1980's at Wild Horse Ranch in the Napa Valley. Only things I have left from those days is a couple of ruptured discs, and shoulder surgery scar, more's the pity. There aren't many things more fun than charging around a 3-mile cross-country course in the wine country.
Glad it's not a black tie and formals event! Give me comfy jeans and a sweater, I'm a happy camper.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie: Glad your comfy in jeans and sweater, me too, I love to wear jeans and a well worn flannel shirt..I use to ride horses also, years past I dated a lovely young lass who owned horses, it was great to go horse back riding on the weekends, only down side was, she always had me help her clean the stables..<G> I had back surgery 5 yrs ago , had 4 discs removed, soo Im not as nimble as in my younger days..sigh.. so dont ride anymore..

Which one is Jamie?

Looks like Dennis won't be going to the WW show for health reasons. Or maybe he simply won't return?

Michael, would you believe that in another thread he suggested I bring some iron pipes (with clamps) with me. Not too bright, our Dennis.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dennis: Your going to get a beating from Jamie for that statement..haha..

For those of us who can't possibly attend, and because you have used this insidious thread to communicate, we demand answers from the group that assembles to the most burning questions:
1. Left or right tilt?
2. What is Art?
3. Whose mood is changing?
4. Any suggestions for the best table saw?
Last but not least...Norm, good or bad influence?
Please indicate if the decisions to these questions were made while sober or drunk.

Yes
2. What is Art?
He's the janitor down at the local pub.
3. Whose mood is changing?
Jamie's after she reads my reply to her equestrian post.
4. Any suggestions for the best table saw?
Mine ... I want a better one.

Can I attend Maybe-Maybe not.
1. Left or right tilt? (Left)
2. What is Art? ( a little short bald fellow I used to know)
3. Whose mood is changing? (I don't know but she has PMS) & she doesn't use this forum.
4. Any suggestions for the best table saw? (#1 drool drool drool PM66)(#2 drool drool Jet left tilt cabinet saw) (#3 drool Grizzly G1023SL probably the one I'll get some day)
Last but not least...Norm, good or bad influence? (Yes LOML watches him to see what new tools I need)
Please indicate if the decisions to these questions were made while sober or drunk. ( I don't drink alcohol so I must be sober I think, man the fermented saw dust is real strong smelling today)
For those of us who can't possibly attend, and because you have used this insidious thread to communicate, we demand answers from the group that assembles to the most burning questions:
1. Left or right tilt?------left
2. What is Art?-----If you read my original post 1 of 484 I said I will go with Sam and call myself a woodworker not Artist!
3. Whose mood is changing?----Mine if I make more money
4. Any suggestions for the best table saw?----Felder
Last but not least...Norm, good or bad influence?-----Good, for a framer!
Please indicate if the decisions to these questions were made while sober or drunk?----Only 2 beers so far so it would be sober Jeff in so cal
Jamie
Ah, youth! Back in the 80's we could saddle up and jump the fence rows. Now we question the danger of being that high off the ground. When we get to the fence that we used to jump, we stop and analyze that it would be a h*ll of a lot more efficient to just go around the thing!! Ha..ha..he..he
Just wanted to let ALL you NW's know I'm hoping you all have a great time at the show. Wish I could make it up for the fun and festivities. Sounds like it is going to be a Let The Good Times Roll get-together! Grin<>
sarge..jt
I invited Jamie to get together with a group from the WWA forum. I would like to extend the invitation to any from this forum that wish to join us.
I think it will be a great opportunity to get together and meet those online friends face to face. If the group looks like it is getting large, I can call Pyramid and see if we can reserve a space. BTW, the food at Pyramid is good. Exotic pizzas, good burgers, and a great portebello mushroom sandwich for the veg heads. I am sure you are aware of Pyramid's other offerings.
I have "volunteered" to work for the Puget Sound Woodworking Center booth at the show so I will be there both Friday and Saturday and maybe Sunday. So I am open. The idea of 11:30 am is fine with me. I originally suggested 12:30 for those individuals that have a thing about beer before noon. :)
I hope we can get everyone together to talk about "wood". Please bring pictures of your projects, your shop, etc. This could be a really good time.
Sincerely,
Michael Lomax
Michael;
Great idea to make it a come-all gathering. I've got some emails from a few locals that don't seem to exhibit much activity in the FWW forums, at least they're not as verbose as me (and Jamie -haha-).
WWA - I'm not familiar with that group. Wood Workers Assoc.?? Me - I'm and architect on the verge of retirement (next year with luck) and have always liked makeing small boards out of big ones then hooking them back together to make big boards again. Nothing noteworthy to show for it yet, though. Recently got addicted to turning so now don't know which way to 'turn'.
We've got your group (#'s??), Jamie and me plus a couple people I'll contact email-wise to see if they're planning on being there.

Dennis,
I sent you the same invite I sent Jamie via e-mail and it included the link to the WWA, Woodworker's Web Association. Did you not recieve it? I did not get a return on the item so I must assume it went through.
Feel free to email me at:

Until then...

Am I missing something? Or do I have my head in the sand? Is there a wood working exhibition going on in Seattle?
I am trying to get as much info in my head as possible (I posted the clamping question the other day) So this would be great for me to get down and see.
Hopefully there will be some on hand things as well.
Let me know if there is something.
Thanks
Corky
Yes, there is. It is Oct. 25, 26, 27th at the Seahawks Stadium Exhibition Center. Be forewarned that Sat and Sun will be very, very crowded. They present a number of seminars, which you can check into at
http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/tjr/V32/index.cvn?ID=10002
If you can get over to Rockler (on Stone Way, Seattle) you can pick up a multi-page "flyer" on the show.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
