I’m thinking about getting a Festool TS55 plunge saw. I’m wondering if anyone has used one and what their experience has been.

Sorry I missed your post. I don't bother with Knots much these days!
There's a very active Festool owners group over at Yahoo where you can get all the information you need -- probably even more than you need!
Here's my short answer for you:
Festool plunge saws are terrific, better than anything else of this type that I've used. With the saw and guide rails, you don't need a table saw for breaking down sheets of plywood, and you don't need a miter saw for most crosscutting.
