I changed the blades in my 22-580. I didn’t realize the bars were spring loaded, and wound up removing them, this may be pertinant though.
when i fired it up and ran a piece of oak thru it all heck broke loose. Felt like the workpiece was going to kick back and the machine really chewed up this board.
The knives are all keyed up and tight and I never touched the rollers, but I expect that they are now not in adjustment with the cutterhead. I’ll adjust those when i get some feeler gauges, but I’m curious as to whether I screwed this up bigtime by removing the blade covers instead o9f just backing them off? All in all a really cruddy day in the shop. Best regards,
Bill

I would take a closer look at the blades, you probably got something wrong when you installed them. There is no reason to think that you have anything suddenly wrong with the rollers, which on most benchtop machines can't be adjusted.
