pioneer Brand from Western Tools
Do any of you guys know about the “Pioneer” brand from Western tool?
I was at the store the other day and ran across a long bed jointer that caught my eye. Looking at the machine, it looks pretty solid, but I was hoping someone out there had some experience with this brand. According to the store manager, it’s a product made specifically for western tool.
They also have a router bit line that is priced aggressively. I picked up a bit and so far performs nicely. We’ll just see how long it lasts!
Thanks for the insight.

Some of their stuff is exactly the same as Jet or delta... some seems to be a little worse for quality... and in that it is only available through them... I would be concerned about service. I will stick with Jet, Powermatic and Delta...even Steel City (as they have distributors everywhere) just dont want my future service hung on Western Tools star...
Hey bob,
I got the Pioneer 14" Bandsaw and wasn't that impressed with it. Exchanged it for a Delta 28-206. Bought the Pioneer at a show and they gave me a great deal on the trade in/up.
I have their overhead dust filter with remote that works GREAT! Sucks up the airborne dust from the TS and BS quite nicely. Churns the air around my small 16' x 20' woodshop much to my liking and is about 1/2 the cost of a comparable JDS.
All in all I've had good experiences with them. They were reasonabe to work with which I think is a +.
Wish I could help you more with the jointer.

A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
Two years ago I bought the Pioneer cabinet saw. It's a knockoff of a Powermatic 66. I use it every day and have had no problems so far, It has been a great tool. The fit and finish seem a bit nicer than the Uni-saw I had planed on buying, and the price was nice.

Hey Bob, I own a 20" Pioneer band saw and I am very happy with this saw. It replaced my
Rikon 14" which I was not happy with. I have looked at other Pioneer machines and they definitely compare to some of the name brands.
