I am co;nsidering buying a pin nailer. I have other Porter Cable guns which work well. Would like some user input on any brand pin nailer (18 or 23 guage).

I have the Senco 23 ga. pin nailer, and for certain tasks it cannot be beat. It will shoot on a very small molding, such as 1.4 x 1/4 cockbeading, without splitting the wood. Even in Ebony. Very hand tool. I wish that the countersink function was adjustable. It doesn't countersink quite as much as I would like, but it is fixed, adn there is no adjustment that I can find.
Does the Senco (or Accuset if you know) fire when it's out of pins?
I have a Porter Cable 15ga gun. The only way to know that I'm out of nails is to look carefully. It continues to fire, leaving a countersink, even tho no nails are being fired. Real PITA when it's time to putty.

I haven't been there yet, tool is less than one year old. My PC 18ga does that, though. With the pin nailer, I had a jam, couln't fix it, took to a service center, they kept it a month, wouldn't tell me how to fix, etc. It was under warrantly, but I'd rather just fix it than travel to and fro. They were not helpful; said it needed a part. It jamed when I was unloading it, and about 3 pins were left in, and then got turned to an angle, and sort of self jammed in the gun. I tried to disassemble, but didn't go too far since I knew it was under warrantly. Now I am especially careful with it at the loading and unloading stages. Hence, no empty fires with it. I wonder if I contacted Senco if they might adivse as to how to adjust the depth of countersink?

Have you tried adjusting the air pressure.
One of my Bostitch guns responds to that very well.

Haave the 16 Porter Cable, and 18 Gauge Portert Cable. Never had a jam with either one. Changing air pressure works for depth control. Wish the 18 gauge shot longer pins. Also have Hitachi 16 Gauge. Great tool but heads leave too much to cover.
Oil regularly and check pressure with sample fires into actual material. Works evry time.
