John,
In the article where you build an outfeed table it seems that you use a natural finish, phenolic resin coated, baltic birch plywood.
I am in Massachusetts and have been unable to locate any large phenolic stock of any color. I’ve been in touch with the editors at FWW and they referred me to the article about phenolic ply in a previous issue but it was no help. The only source they listed in this area is Woodcraft and they only sell small pieces.
You’re listed as being in Vermont and obviously found a source for the stuff. Can you share?
Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Actually, I built the table in the FWW shop and they ordered the phenolic. I seem to recall that they could only find a few sources in the NY metro area.
In most areas you can find specialty sheet good suppliers that distribute to commercial shops and industry, they can supply what you need, local lumber yards won't know what you are talking about.

I recently "Asked the Experts" about phenolic plywood also. Since then I've searched out phenolic here in the San Diego area and found that the phenolic plywood shown in the article was available at the vendor listed in the article (Anderson Plywood). A phone call revealed that it would cost me $200 a sheet (4x8) and a 150 mile drive. An alternative is a phenolic plywood available from White Cap which is a concrete contractor supply warehouse(Google it- I think it's whitecapdirect.com). This material is only available in black. The counter help at this store had no idea about its composition, but I was able to find a fresh pallet that had it's shipping info which revealed it's made in China from Poplar veneers with phenolic glues and surface laminates. It's only $40 a sheet. I bought two yesterday but haven't as yet cut into them to asses suitability. I' ll let you know.
