Happy Holidays everyone. I have a large amount of 3/4 pecan (hickory) left from a cabinet job. Does anyone see any problems in using this material to make a solid bench top 2 1/2″ thick?

Much of the "butcher block" from stores is pecan. I bought one 25 yrs ago, 2" thick, and it's now in its 3rd kitchen with no problems.
goyo,
Pecan is a difficult wood to work, as I'm sure you know if this is leftover from a project. That said, it should make a good top for your bench--hard, heavy, and tough.
Good luck,
Ray
