PC router dust pickup attachment
Has anybody found the dust pickup accessory attachment for Porta Cable routers to actually work? The pickup for edge routing is fairly effective, but that for collecting dust/chips for surface routing seems to be totally ineffective. The pickup port is so small that it’s easily plugged by chips, and seems to do nothing for collecting the dust storm from routing in MDF. On a project this past week I ended up taking the work outside so as not to trash my entire shop when routing a large 1/4″ deep recess in a panel of MDF. This is in Minnesota, and it was about 15 degrees below zero at the time with a stiff breeze.

Only about 6 below Zero here as I remember today.. AND -30 below or a bit higher.. depending on the variable winds.. STILL COLD! Hell, I get cold if it is below 70 degreese aaaaaaaaaaa F!
Nope, I have the 890 series and the 690 and DC was not on the engineers mind when they designed. When I got the 890 series with the plung base I noticed it had a port to hook the hose up to, but when you plunge you hit it. What a joke. I lived with it and even tried a dust hood that I got at rocklers attached to the DC. If you want dc on a router you'll need to look at Festool. I just live with the dust when I have to and cant use my router table that has the PC 7518 in it and a cabinet built around it. Good luck and if you find some thing that works let me know. Good routers but DC S##ks.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
