This weekend I picked up a Parks 12″ thickness planer. It is in good working order except that it has smaller than needed single drive pulleys. The manual recommends having dual pulleys on both planer and motor. Size requirements are motor: 7″ to 8″. Planer: 3″ to 3 1/2″. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase these pulleys? It came with a Craftsman 1 1/2 HP 3450 rpm motor that I will transfer to a 10″ table saw as I have a 2HP Leeson 1750 rpm that I will install on the planer. These larger pulleys would bring the cutterhead up to 4000 rpm which is proper operating speed.

Grizzly sells pulleys, and you probably have a local electric motor shop that sells them too. The Old Woodworking Machines site (http://www.owwm.com) has a lot of good information too.

In these parts the shops that sell replacement bearings also sell all types of pulleys and related parts.

gnome,
A word to the wise: Keep those cutterhead bearings pumped up with grease, or they might seize up and then you will gall the shaft... Damhikt :-)
Only problem I had with my Parks in 30 yrs.

Thanks for the quick input everyone. Grizzley has what I need. I'm ordering them today. After all, it's no fun if it doesn't run.
