I’ve been asked to repaint a residential balustrade. It’s about ten years old, builder’s oil based paint, round dowels.
My plan is to scuff sand, thin some oil pased paint and apply with a brush. Spraying is not an option.
I’m worried about brush marks and drips.
Any suggestions to make this a successful job.
Thanks,

First off, don't thin the paint too much. Use a brush that fits the balusters. If you go to a local art supply store you can find smaller brushes that will have finer bristles than ordinary paint brushes.
Use common sense; as you finish painting each baluster, unload your brush and then lightly brush in an upward stroke. This will lay the paint down and stop any drips.
