Hello Everyone
After too long, I have decided to build several badly need cabinets in my shop. I moved in in 2001 and still have shelves and a whole lot of mess.
Some, for some speciality items, will be built from hardwood and finished with oil but the bulk will be constructed from MDF and painted.
Will ya’ll recommend a good enamel paint that can be sprayed. I need to be tough and easy to clean. Three will not fit on my spray booth and will have to be painted outside so fast drying time is somewhat important.
Thank you all and I hope all is and has been well. It has been some since I have participated.

Grits,
I don't have a paint recommendation. I'm sure you will get many. But I have another suggestion.
If you have not yet bought your materials, go take a look at the white melamine-clad MDF cabinets ready for assembly at Home Depot or Lowes, or the like. For less than the price of melamine stock you can have decent cabinetry, pre-engineered, needing but routine assembly. It will look attractive, do the job and the melamine surfaces will serve better than paint.
I had to quickly outfit a garage shop several years ago, before any of the shop equipment had been delivered. The result was quite professional-looking and was done in a day.

Thanks Rich,
That is a great suggestion and I will see what sizes have. I may find some that will fit.
Most of the cabinets have a special purpose. One will fit under a large steel workbench. The most important will double as an outfeed table for my table saw. Another will be about twenty feet long and will serve as a table for my miter saw. I plan to build one to hold all my spray guns, pots, etc, and will also be a mixing table. The later has to fit in a particular spot.
If the number were not so vast and specialized, I would build them out of something pretty and show off a little. A few of them will be. Woodworking is my favorite, however, I also do some metal work. I backed into metal via gunsmithing. It is great to do both. You can build some killer woodworking fixtures and jigs with a Bridgeport and metal lathe.
I have a lot of measuring instruments, some of them very old. I will build a very nice cabinet for things such as that. My shop also need more work than cabinets. I am also behind on an air system. Dragging hoses is getting old, not to mention moving my dust collector around.
Recently, I finely had enough and decided to build the things I need, to make things easier, rather than building the things I really like. What the heck, I will have fun with that too.
Does anyone have an opinion about colored lacquer?
Thanks,
Grits
