I’d like to replace the injection molded white patio decor with some homemade outdoor furniture. I like the “Leutens” type benches and furniture found in many expensive catalogs; I’m not crazy about Adirondak chairs – too hard to get out of when you pass 50!
I’d like some suggestions about sources for plans. Also, what type of wood? Although I’d like teak, it’s a bit pricey. I’ve also thought about Phillipine mahogany, white oak, cypress, or white cedar. Any suggestions?

FWW had an article on a Luytens Garden Bench in Issue 143 (July/August 2000). All the woods you mentioned are good for outdoor use.
Here you go. This link may help.
