Anybody use OSMO or Sam Malof finishing product? Looking to finish my project (Walnut and Maple) with a Matt finish. I have used Target Coating in the past and sprayed with HVLP unit. This is a cabinet, and I don’t really like spraying interiors. I get a uneven finish. Prefinish if possible, may be a option. Any recommendations would be very welcome!

I have used both. In my novice woodworking days I used Maloof finish with the final coat of Maloof wax on a coffee table. That was a mistake because any heat or moisture will create rings and dull spots. A bit of a bother to maintain.
My last few projects I’ve used the OSMO Polyx matte/satin to great satisfaction. It’s simple to apply, requiring only two coats. It seems quite durable after curing. Much fewer VOCs compared to wipe-on poly and, for me, leaves a more consistent smoother finish. It’s also a repairable finish.
It looks great on walnut, white oak, or sapele. I haven’t tried it yet on maple.
Good luck
ThankYou for the info, that helps!
My woodworking guild loves using the OSMO. There has been a steady conversion of the members to using this as their first choice of finish.
Which of the OSMO finishes are used? Thank You for your answer and help, it’s truly appreciated.
This is the product I’ve been using via Lee Valley:

It’s a bit spendy, but a little goes a long way. Also these folks have some good tips: https://www.follen.com/osmo-polyx-furniture-application-instructions
If you do a search here at FWW I think there’s a fairly recent article on using this type of finish.
