I am very interested in learning ornamental carving for furniture (i.e. gadrooning, egg and dart etc etc) It is difficult for me to get a straight publication of the subject by browsing the internet Does anyone knows where to get a DVD addressing these kind of carving?.
Some of you will respond saying there are some classrooms that offer this kind of carving. I don’t want to go to a classroom I want to learn by doing from some help from a visual representation.
Thanks you all

If you don't mind a book, I've found "How To Carve Wood" by Richard Butz (actually the U in Butz has two dots over it, umlaut-u) very helpful. There are separate sections on relief carving, chip carving, wildlife carving, and carving in the round. There is also an excellent discussion of chisel classifications, and choosing and maintaining chisels.

Exactly on point is Carving Architectural Detail in Wood, The Classical Tradition, by Frederick Wilber. Shows gadrooning--two types--egg and dart, and all of the carving you are likely to see on classical furniture, except ball and claw feet, and Newport fans. Also has some good information on the classical orders and design.
I'll second that.
A first class book that will inspire and educate you. One of my favourites. The older I get, the better I was....
Thank you Steve. I have a good list of places where to and read about my question.
